Foraminal stenosis (also referred to as foraminal narrowing) is associated with a variety of unpleasant symptoms. This condition occurs when the foramina (the small openings that run along each side of the spinal vertebrae) begin to narrow because of some obstruction. The narrowing places pressure on the nerves that run through the openings, resulting in pain, tingling, numbness and muscle weakness. Symptoms are generally felt on the side of the body where the narrowing occurs.
Many people are able to achieve relief from the symptoms of foraminal stenosis using pain medications or corticosteroid injections. At USA Spine Care, however, we understand that some individuals are looking to treat their condition using a more holistic approach. That’s why we’ve compiled the following list of nine natural remedies that are commonly used for foraminal stenosis treatment:
If you’re looking to treat your foraminal stenosis using alternative natural methods, please consult with your physician before beginning a new treatment regimen. He or she will be able to weigh the options and let you know which techniques offer you the best chances of success.
If you’ve attempted to treat your condition using these or other natural methods and are still living with chronic pain, please contact USA Spine Care today. We can provide you with a free MRI review* to let you know whether you might be a candidate for our minimally invasive spine surgeries. We’re often able to treat foraminal stenosis using our minimally invasive foraminotomy procedure, which allows us to remove whatever material is compressing your foramina and the nerves within. Our minimally invasive spine surgery is often clinically appropriate and provides many advantages versus open neck or back surgery.^
