At USA Spine Care we provide patients with collapsed discs a safer and effective alternative to traditional open spine surgery.^ Elective surgery should always be viewed as a last resort to be considered by patients who have already followed conservative treatment plans for weeks or months without offering relief of their symptoms. When surgery does come into consideration, USA Spine Care’s minimally invasive spine surgery stands out because it is minimally invasive and performed on an outpatient basis. In contrast, traditional open neck and open back surgeries are performed using larger muscle-disrupting incisions and they involve patients staying at the hospital for two to five days.

At USA Spine Care, a minimally invasive discectomy involves the partial removal of a damaged disc that is causing symptoms. By taking away the problematic part of the disc, our surgeons can relieve the pain, weakness and numbness caused by its compression of a surrounding nerve.
Our minimally invasive laminotomy is a procedure that involves the removal of part of the lamina, which is a part of a vertebra that helps form the wall of the spinal canal. This procedure is used to give pinched nerves more space, thereby relieving the symptoms caused by compression.
A foraminotomy consists of widening a nerve root opening, called a foramen, which allows nerves to exit the spinal column. Similar to a laminotomy, the procedure is designed to allow compressed nerves more room, relieving symptoms ranging from localized pain to radiating weakness.
If a disc has lost significant height and can no longer support the surrounding vertebrae, spinal fusion involves the removal of the collapsed spinal disc, followed by a fusing of the two neighboring vertebrae. This is performed to stabilize a segment of the spine that may be resting on nerve roots after a disc has collapsed. As with all of our other procedures, we perform fusions on a minimally invasive basis, using a small incision to complete them and sparing surrounding muscles. This approach means less recovery time and lower risks of complications and infections.^
